Los Angeles is one of few places in the world in which t-shirts are considered to be a fashion statement. Thus, LA-based Jenny B Clothing’s t-shirt designs, a far cry from the ten year-old sorority t
ees seen on girls in most other cities, are a blend of chic and cheeky that many of LA’s fashion-obsessed masses have adopted as wardrobe staples.

Jenny B was founded in 2005 by ex-advertising executive Jennifer Brawley, who was inspired by the expressive females – and their fashions – of the 60’s and 70’s. Hoping to appeal to worldly women with an appreciation of her acerbic wit, Brawley is known for her edgy message tees boasting in-your-face phrases such as “If you want unconditional love, get a dog,” “Highest maintenance possible,” and “Bad men happen to good women.” Recently, Brawley expanded the line to include patterned burnout tees: silky, second-skin sheer tees in both leopard and heart prints. The screened leopard print tees – available in pink, yellow, white, and purple - are a subtle way to spice up a dress or a blazer while also proving the perfect way to garner attention for a t-shirt, jeans, and sneaker combination. The heart tees - also available as tanks - come in black, white, and blue, and can add an effortlessly feminine touch to leather pants or military jackets. In contrast to the fierce phrase tees that made Jenny B popular, these new designs mark an evolution of the brand towards a more understated aesthetic that somehow manages to make an even bigger fashion statement.

And for the month of October you can make another statement- against breast cancer. Jenny B has launched a pink “Heartburn” tee to coincide with breast cancer awareness month. The tank is light pink with solid and outlined heart burnouts all over. It’s the perfect mix of a girly design meets high fashion. This t-shirt will raise your style profile and awareness. 50% of the proceeds from the sale of this tank will be donated to The Breast Cancer Foundation. Now that’s something to spend for.

The collection is available locally at Kaje in Beverly Hills and online at www.jennybclothing.com.
