It’s not unusual for travel to inspire fashion, but it’s not often that fashion inspires travel. However, one look at Emu’s Spring ’09 boot collection, the aesthetic of which epitomizes the Aussie li
For those who can’t jet off to the Gold Coast but who share in the local LA affinity for winter boots coupled with short skirts, Emu’s spring styles still make for perfect additions to wardrobes stateside. Made from 100% sheepskin, the boots are so insanely comfortable and practical they make Jimmy Choo’s look like devices of torture. What sets them apart from other functional boots, however, is feminine detailing that includes ribbons, delicate buckles, decorative buttons, and folds that allow the boots to be worn in multiple fashions. The Barossa - a bootie that comes in two colors, chestnut and sand - is the perfect lounge-around-the-house shoe that can easily transition into a Saturday-in -Santa Monica fashion accessory that will have your flip-flop wearing friends shivering with envy in the often nippy spring beach air. The Hipper Lo, a mid-calf boot that comes in sand, chestnut, orchid pink, and yellow, is a classic sheepskin boot dressed up in ribbons for a lighter, more sunshine-friendly look and feel. The Hipper Lo’s open seam allows for the boot to be folded down for a shorter boot or extended to its full length at mid-calf. Both the Barossa and the Hipper Lo are made from Australian sheepskin, endowed with double-stitched seams for durability, and can be worn both indoors and out. While Emu boots are, of course, available in Australia, they can also be more conveniently purchased at any Macy’s, Journey’s, or online at Amazon.com or Zappos.com. by Erin Bunch 1/19/2009 |
